Effective marketing in the home market
In close cooperation with partners in around 100 grain collection centres , market leader fenaco-LANDI Group successfully markets grain and oilseeds. The MAXI system, as it is known, is based on:
  • a committed division of responsibilities between grain collection depots and fenaco
  • payment on account in autumn as well as a distinction made between storage and transport costs
  • transparent, documented proof of sales revenue and expenses in the final accounts in spring

Within its MAXI system, the fenaco-LANDI Group markets significant amounts of Swiss milling grains and oilseeds.

Innovation and differentiation
Around 90% of domestic milling grains in the MAXI system are marketed with the "Suisse Premium" quality standard, a trademark of the fenaco-LANDI Group registered in Switzerland and the CE. The most important element of "Suisse Premium" is the use of certified seed from the recommended list of varieties, documented traceability as well as a professional quality assurance system that covers every stage in the process.

Since the harvest season 2010, all "Suisse Premium" grain also meets the criteria of the "SUISSE GARANTIE" brand of origin, which is recognised in Switzerland. This enables interested grain mills to make a clear distinction between the products they process and imported baking flours. In this way, consumers can choose staples of all kinds whose raw materials were grown and processed in Switzerland.

Following the successful introduction of high oleic (HO) sunflowers more than 10 years ago, fenaco comprehensively has invested - in close cooperation with partners throughout the entire value-added chain - in the commercial viability of high oleic low linolenic (HOLL) winter rapeseed for the deep-fat frying sector and cooked foods. Thanks to this success story on behalf of the foodstuff industry, gastronomy as well as, to an increasing degree, households, there has been a substantial increase in rapeseed cultivation in Switzerland. Wide-ranging, complementary import activities
To complement its domestic trade, fenaco also buys in specific grades of durum and wheat, oilseeds and other foreign specialities to meet processors’ requirements. It is focusing on boosting its activities in two market segments in which there is an increasing concentration on sustainable and transparent contract production with reliable and efficient partners:
  • all raw organic produce of various origins with the "Bud" label/NOP certification
  • Specialities for foodstuffs, including sweetcorn, barley, millet, soybeans, etc.

By-product utilization

Thanks to its own production of high-performance compound feeds (main brands: UFA und Melior) as well as its broad customer base, fenaco can utilize and market on a continuous basis large quantities of by-products from mill operations and oil extraction plants. This cooperative approach gives fenaco a decisive competitive edge in its market processing.
