Auhafen

Since July 2018, fenaco has been managing 50,000 cubic metres of storage space at Auhafen in Birsfelden for Grain, Oilseeds, Feedstuffs (GOF). The independently managed silo enables the efficient handling of agricultural goods.

Strategic importance

Every day, the Auhafen harbour efficiently handles the necessary supplementary imports (protein and grain) for our customers by all means of transport. Auhafen is also LANDI Reba’s grain collection centre for the domestic harvest in the region around Basel.

By operating the silo in the Auhafen harbour, fenaco GOF contributes to the country’s economic supply. On behalf of réservesuisse, compulsory storage quantities are held in the silos for any emergency supply phases.

In line with fenaco’s principle – “We organise our business activities in an economically, socially and ecologically sustainable way.” – the facility is strongly focussed on transshipment from ship to rail. The efficient rail infrastructure and direct access to the motorway for camions will relieve Basel city traffic on the roads.

The agreement with the Energy Agency for Industry (EnAW) to increase energy efficiency emphasises the facility’s claim to sustainability.
